A Renewed Sense of Wonder Has Arrived

With Comic-Con currently getting ramped up in San Diego it seemed appropriate to give the DC expanded universe another chance. I’ll be honest that I’ve been a skeptic for some time, but I finally got a chance to see Batman vs. Superman, and I have to say the last hour of the movie got me stoked for more; especially for Wonder Woman and other members of the Justice League all around. This is gonna be good; really good moving forward...I hope. The sheer grittiness, snap zooms, and desaturated, bold color grading grabbed my attention from frame one.

After so many superhero reboot films (yes Marvel’s Spidey I'm looking at you) I’ve been left too many times with a stale taste in my mouth. Now I wholeheartedly feel that we have a feast ahead of us, and the Justice League offers up the main course with Patricia Lea Jenkins and Zack Snyder at their respective helms of the DC franchise. I cannot wait to see Wonder Woman, especially considering a female director is calling the shots. It’s about time we have more female directors in the chair.
